GOODBYE, 2013!

death

Maybe it was coz of my Facebook post before I slept last night that I dreamed of these two precious people, in their old bedroom, ready to get to sleep...

So, I had to leave the room so they can rest, and I gave them each a peck on their cheeks (which was unusual) and said goodbye, and they also said their goodbyes to me... (Tatay even waved...)

I am thankful that I was able to see them again... but sad coz I terribly miss them...

I will be facing the coming years with inspiration from them, from their love. I have no regrets when I look back to the times I spent with them...

I am actually grateful for Cebu Pacific Air (plugging?!) for I was able to treat them to all-expense vacation to their homeland, Guimaras, --TWICE, thanks to their affordable promos. Then they'd both ask when will the next promo be, so we can all go again. If Cebu Pacific Air can read my post, my Lola was really very proud that our airline tickets were cheaper than the tax we paid at the airport, that she went bragging it to everyone she got to talk to back in Guimaras and here in Manila...

I really thank God that they were given to us to be our grandparents, our Mamang and Tatay...

I am blessed because of them...

Goodbye, Mamang and Tatay... until we meet again!

I MISS HIM TODAY.

grannies

He has always been one of my kakampi sa lahat ng bagay. Especially when it involves my grandmother.

He has always understood. Always thoughtful. Always caring...

He was always giving. I really won't ever forget his gesture when he tried to give me his most memorable P100 bill just so I can do my follow-up interview.

He never failed to take care of my grandmother and everyone, even when his body was failing him...

He loved my grandmother so much.

He always tried to be strong.

He tried to go to church even if he has to walk with crutches, and even when his knees hurt with all the sitting and standing inside the church.

He loved God and His words.

Though I miss him so much, I know he's in a better place now, I can't complain.

BABY NAMES 101

Sunday, September 15, 2013

babies

You know you're old when the baby you named years ago, is now asking you to name her very own baby!

And I had this thought, just a couple of days ago, about names and the naming game, when I read a very pretty name. I instantly visualized a fine lady... only to find out a little later that this name belongs to a girl who tries to reject her womanhood!

So, someday, when she embraces the bob-cut or boy-cut and every manly thing she can acquire for herself, she would be stuck with her name, Princess Cinderella. (I made up the name, of course...)

So, I thought of names that could be suitable, even when the little Junior decides to be Miss Talipapa in the future...

For example: Alex, Charlie, Drew... and lots more. There are, of course, many websites that offer a list nowadays, unlike in the olden days when they just give whatever name that pops out of their head when asked.

You can also try to flip open a dictionary and get from the words there like Justice and stuff. Just be careful not to use names that are being used for our domesticated furry friends =( please?

After all, you were given at least 9 months to give a proper name, don't just rely on what storm is raging or whatever political event that's currently on the news to base your child's name after.

Also, keep in mind that they'll become grandparents too, and won't it be too awkward to call on Grandma Sassy?

The BOOKWORM in Me!

books

I really wanted to find this book by Michael Stein so I spent hours in bookstores just to search for it. Well, actually, on the second bookstore lang, as they claimed to not have a database of all their books...

While I was on the first bookstore, (the famous one) I saw this paperback copy of Memoirs of a Geisha... I checked the price and it was sold for P499.00! I bought my copy from a book sale and it was hard bound, only for P49.00! I seriously, silently, promised myself not to buy books from that bookstore again... (except of course Michael Stein's if they ever get a copy!) Not that I have incorporated a resentment against them, but just, if I can get a book 90% off of it, then why buy the pricey-paperback one, right? It has the same content anyway, I'm sure.

So, I headed to the other bookstore at that mall, and in lieu of the book I was originally looking for, I (once again) bought Danielle Steele books which my mom adores, and some books I wanted to read. This book store is on sale almost everyday, and they have a wide selection for a tiny space, but they really have no record of all their books! I wanted to volunteer to do it only if I'm certain I'm to find In the Age of Love I was desperately searching for!

These three books are my latest finds, Memoirs is just for show-off:

...and believe it or not, I bought those three for less than P150.00!

I've really wanted to read The Hobbit, I have it on my e-books lib, but my eyes often surrender to the bright light while reading e-books!

But then again...

F.Y.I. the books with no check marks beside it on my Reading List have been tsundoku-ed. ^_^

But I DO love LOVE ❤

love

Have you ever been in love
Horrible isn't it?
It makes you so vulnerable.
It opens your chest and it opens up your heart
and it means someone can get inside you and mess you up.
You build up all these defenses.
You build up a whole armor, for years, so nothing can hurt you,
then one stupid person,
no different from any other stupid person,
wanders into your stupid life...
You give them a piece of you.
They didn't ask for it.
They did something dumb one day, like kiss you or smile at you,
and then your life isn't your own anymore.
 Love takes hostages.
It gets inside you.
It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness,
so simple a phrase like 'maybe we should be just friends'
or 'how very perceptive' turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart.
It hurts.
Not just in the imagination
Not just in the mind.
It's a soul-hurt, a body-hurt,
a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain.
Nothing should be able to do that.
Especially not love.
I hate love.

dreams

Last week I had a dream, we were eating in a restaurant somewhere in Alabang raw. The crews were busy taking off used plates and everything else from our table, when the owner herself went to our table and started helping with the clean-up.

She looked up to us, and said, "Pwede bang bilisan nyo dahil maglilinis pa kami?" And I realized she looked exactly like Sister Emillie. So I flippantly told everyone on the table. "Oy, bilisan nyo raw!" and laughed. And serious as she was, she laughed with me too!

And when we all stood up, and I was still nibbling on a chocolate chip cookie, I asked her who made them as they were delicious. She said "Ako!" with a smile. So I exclaimed, "Nagbe-bake ka rin??" to which she just smiled.

The lady was about to go down the stairs (to their kitchen I think) when I told everyone how she resembles Sister Emillie. And everyone suddenly cried out, "Oo nga!" and "Kaya pala she looked familiar..."

I was really glad to have found someone who resembles her in so many ways, who looks exactly like her, (but of course in my dream it was her --even sounded like her!) And before my company and I left, she hugged me and whispered to me, "Hayaan mo, kahit kailan, hindi na kita paiiyakin..."

(Maybe because that day I missed her so much and cried like I did on the day she died.)

I wanted to stay where she was, but we had to go. So I told myself that I would always come visit her and get to know her, and love her as if she were my momster...

God, I really hope she exists!

FORGIVE THE INVECTIVE

hotel

Time check: 4:50 A.M.
Sleep time: ZILCH.

Care to know why?

Right now, my laptop's volume is turned to the highest level, and yet, the words are being drowned by the air conditioner's sound. Oh, no -- let me rephrase:

...the words are being drowned by the air conditioner's NOISE.

Imagine yourself in a propeller jet. The sound is like that, only --you are seated outside the plane.
Or you are very near or in front of a fan. A. Big. Industrial. Fan.

And here's the best deal, this is the SUITE ROOM. I actually upped myself because the price difference between the EXECUTIVE  and the SUITE ROOM is so small. A cab fare will be more expensive from any SM to any other nearest SM.

Anyway, I called the receptionist and asked if I can be transferred, even if I had to be downgraded to the single standard ones (for I really want to sleep!) but was told there was none available right now.

So, here I am, awake and wanting to write a note-to-self and a friendly advice:

  • The water smells like just a bit too much of red corpuscles.
  • The TV has less than 10 channels. (cable pa, partida!)
  • No TV remote.
  • Sheets are stained.
  • The fixtures are worn.
  • The loo is not at its natural color.
  • The bathroom is an oxymoron. (The dark light.)

I am very attentive to hotel (or pension houses, inns, hostels, what-have-you's) reviews before checking in, and I know I have read some reviews about this one, but forgot, thanks to my reliable slate, and a last-minute change of decision.

Here's a good deal here though, they approve of late check-out  til 3PM! (but with a P50.00/hour rate!) The last two other hotels I've stayed in only gives 'til 1 PM with no extra charge... ^_^

Whoever invented the phrase "Change is good" must really try this hotel for a rude awakening.

happy

This has been a treat!

I have found a site to watch Meryl Streep and movies, and with the help of temporary files folder, I was able to save the video on my mac! I've always thought caches were useless ^_^

So, so far, I have seen Death Becomes Her, which was a laugh treat for most parts. Next I watched Prime co-starring Uma Thurman, and last and latest, The Prairie Home Companion, which I've already seen, but watched again for the heck of it.

And now I have to get moving to work on something!!! I want to watch Falling In Love next! It's Friday, it's Friday!!!

Mid-week Crisis =)

coffee

I woke up with a throbbing headache. and realized it was already 10 A.M. I don't know if my headache was caused by sleeping too much or less.

So I got up to make myself some coffee, and since the rain was pouring hard, all plans of going out to my grandmother's was mentally crossed-out. I transferred some pillows to the living room, brought my blanket with me and snuggled comfortably as I put on the Barbra Streisand 1994 concert on DVD.

The preparations were shown first, and then some people were interviewed, and their enthusiasm was just contagious, I felt the excitement in me to see Barbra grew.

And when she finally walked on stage, with the accompaniment of "The Way We Were" being played by the orchestra, I wanted to cry! She was really quite a vision...

So I just stayed there, laughing with her, smiling as she sang familiar songs. I suddenly found myself hugging the DVD cover.

I was giggling as she told her story when she first fell in love with Marlon Brando! I am that mababaw...

I wish I have more movies though, coz I've seen all I have, some more than twice. I'm starting to read a book to kill boredom! And that's really saying something...

No One BLOGS Anymore!

blogging

The latest entries I've seen from other blogs were way back 2011!

And I speak for myself when I say --I blame Facebook!

Anyway I was thinking of what I have not blogged about since my hiatus, and there were some few significant events. I actually posted them in Posterous --which now just says Good night, Posterous! I was not even given the chance to back-up my files!

So I will be stating a few:

July 14, 2012. My grandparents celebrated their 52nd Wedding Anniversary!

August 3, 2012. My Lolo/Tatay passed away. My grandmother's been sad and sickly since then.

August 13, 2012. My monster mom, who fondly calls me her princess and was sorry she did not adopt me when I was younger, passed away too. This photo was taken in 2010.

I also had a puppy! His name was HAPPY. Sadly, he passed away too.

So, basically, I remembered only the sad events. It's not that nothing GOOD happened, maybe they're just not that significant. ^_^

blogging

Yes, I am ready to BL❤G again!

And since POSTEROUS closed their site, and I've really been wanting to blog again, which better site to use than blogger? :)

But I had to change my blog name since I find the previous one so lame (kristellerain.blogspot.com) Anyway I've had that since June 6, 2005, I think.

I also don't want the rain anymore, so I'm recycling my Posterous site name.

It appeals better to me.

I am so back. =)
