Just another New Year post

holiday

It seems I'm getting the drive to blog when a year is either already ending or just beginning. Maybe because it's a time to reflect on what has transpired over the past year, that I check on my social media accounts to see the new places I've been to, people I've met, and other things or experiences. Then I go check my blog and see it's empty. It makes me sad, but I never seem to find time to just log-in and type away.

The reason why I have time NOW is because I'm all by myself and got nothing important to do. I am in my sister's place in Doha, and they've gone to Dubai for the New Year Celebration and to take the kids to the many theme parks that Dubai holds. So with my phone on my left side, TV remote control on the right, and B&O A1 speaker (my sister's) in front of me playing Katy Perry's "I'm Still Breathing" (aptly so), I decided to give blogging a go.

As it is the first day of the year, what best to blog about than NEW YEAR's resolution? When I was in grade school (--and high school, too, I guess) we had always been asked to write it all on a piece of paper on the very first day of school right after the Christmas break. Who knows what our teachers do to them, maybe memorize it all and laugh behind our backs if we break them.

So before the year ended, I have decided to make a NY resolution:

I read somewhere that we don't need a new year or a new month to set new things to do or achieve. However, most people, such as myself, really tend to have this competitive attitude to be better, do better on a new year, or a new month. Like, sure, I can start learning a new language anytime, but this is more challenging this way. ^_^ Right?

So, bring it on, 2017! 2016 was okay but I know you can do better.

Hello, 2014!

holiday

It's January! It's my birth month! ^_^ and it's 2014!

I am so excited for this year, really. I don't know why. But I am just...

I was actually a bit melancholic last night, just at home, watching Bridget Jones' Diary against the noises around me (being just 2 hours away from New Year's eve!) and I was alone, and only had my laptop and phone as my company...

But I went to the rooftop 5 minutes before 12 and watched the fireworks... Thanking God for all his blessings and grace, and for seeing us through 2013, and for letting us see 2014... And after that, I was fine already... I felt confident about this year. And seriously excited.

I suddenly want to do so many things.

One is, as inspired by the movie, I am gonna be hopeful in keeping a Diary this year, or a Journal which I hope to bring with me all the time. I want the conventional one, not a mobile application, as there's a bit disadvantage to that in case the phone gets broken, or missing.

I will also strive to be cautious in what I eat, and try to do that, really. The real challenge is that, today, being the first day when I am supposed to be on diet-watch, there are left-overs that I will feel sorry for once they get spoiled :( I feel bad already.

I also will have a BUCKET LIST. First time in my life, and I am up to the challenge of fulfilling whatever I will think of putting in there this 2014...

And I will also TRY MY BEST in doing the FMS Photo A Day Challenge. I tried so hard last year and I only had 10 photos in a month, at the most.

But now, see...

I made it my desktop wallpaper. I am that eager to accomplish that thing!

And the challenge was brought upon me as soon as I read it. Coz by the time I have checked the list, I had already skipped DAY 1's. I woke up at 1 P.M. :(

But then, I can still make up for it tomorrow! :)

--AND I WILL!

Yey, I will. ^_^

christmas

happy new year! ^_^

the holidays went by so quickly. it seems like everyone was on a vacation --- my sister, my grannies, everyone i know, save for me. i got so busy that my grandma went asking for me already because i haven't paid them a visit for days!

anyway, i think i'm gonna have flu.

last night, i welcomed the new year at my mom's house. first time with my sister and Jared in the Philippines after so many years. and with my grannies again. after spending it last year abroad, i really savoured every minute of it. and the children's christmas party i organized a little earlier was a blast too. even though the number was lesser than the last one's, it was OKAY because it lessened the pressure on me.

so that's it. just trying to post on january first, 3 days before i turn 26, at 11 pm. but it says here it's 6 pm, because i'm using my sister's mac. bh time. ^_^

7 days before CHRISTMAS :)

grannies

2 days ago, my grannies have come home.

happiness. i really miss them. the thought of having them near makes me happy. anyway, the other day, i combed my grandmother's hair so she can have her siesta, and i remembered doing it when i was still young. there was this one time when i got so bored of doing it and i just wanted to go out and play but she wouldn't let me, not unless she slept. so i just pretended combing her hair, rolling the comb all the way to her scalp. then the comb got stuck and i couldn't take it off, so i silently slipped out of their room, leaving her sleeping with her hair tangled on a comb.

i don't clearly remember what happened next. but i do remember i saw one neighbor chatting with her while trying to get the comb off her hair. and hearing that they would need to cut it made me so guilty. and that she didn't get mad at me.

btw, j's field trip was okay. i didn't like it. the whole time i felt sleepy and tired and bored. but i had to attend to her. the stage-sister that i am, to all my sibs. what really made my day was seeing the migratory birds (or migrant?) (--got me confused) along the rice swamps, whatever they call it. they were beautiful.

btw part 2, i am so grateful to be here on philippine soil for the holiday seasons. i just can't imagine myself being anywhere away from here. thank You po...

food

is sad. sooo sad. and sleepy. kasi may pasok.

last night i wasn't supposed to "celebrate" right? but for jared's sake, (it's his first christmas) nag-videoke kami ni ate! maganda kasi walang kaagaw sa mic, hehe.

she cooked pasta, chicken and made fruit salad for christmas dinner. so i got myself so tired of singing that i don't have time to be so sad.

but today i'm sad. or maybe i'm just sleepy?

holiday

how do i start?

all i know is that i am sad. coz it's gonna be christmas but i am here. i don't even want to know that it's christmas, except when somebody greets me, which annoys me most of the time. and then my sister will play some christmas songs, i really have to hold back my tears. it's just too difficult.

it's an advantage that they don't celebrate christmas here. means, i don't have to really feel it. except most of the time, it really sinks in. and i'm more than sad.

i really don't want to celebrate. when some friends invite me, i just say i am not in a celebratory mood. it's gonna be superficial if i become happy for the moment. i don't wanna force myslef to be happy. coz i am not.

one happy thought for today is the message i received in my friendster. it made my day. and that jared is starting to grab the ref magnets. that's a first.

28 days before the year ends...

holiday

it's almost christmas. i remember my last christmas, it was simply the best. i was so contented with the life i had last year. we had the perfect apartment. not so extravagant, but decent --and always neat (thanks to me)...

one more special thing about it was that we had our first christmas tree! it was small, just 3 feet (i was gonna say tall, but um...) but still a christmas tree, right? complete with santa claus decors, which, if not the trousers, the beards would fall off. cheap stuff, but special.

i decorated the house in red, literally. red table cloth, red sofa covers... and we had some friends over.

and, YES, I AM BEING NOSTALGIC.

i miss Bicutan.

i want to sit on the sofa
...and watch pirated dvds?

i want to wrap the gifts
...which mostly are for the kids.
...tapos 1 day lang wala nang gifts sa ilalim ng christmas tree!

i want to organize their christmas party
...which i do EVERY YEAR! kahit maubos ang pera ko :( huhu
...i'm sure they will surely miss me on that one haha!

i want to see the footbridge get filled with holiday shoppers
...kahit na mas marami yung matigas ang ulo at mas gusto ko kalsada maglakad!
...kaya tuloy laging traffic sa Bicutan! may takot siguro sa heights?

i want to attend the annual footwashing and communion
...definitely, totally gonna miss it! not by choice.

i want to hear the christmas carols!
i want to see all the fireworks...
i want to see all my friends and family...
i want to go home...

Guimaras

i know, i should be sleeping. but i was browsing through some friend requests on friendster while resting, and some of them were from Guimaras, and so it took my attention...

i really love Guimaras -- next to Bicutan, of course, kahit na magulo at delikado. but it wasn't always like that in Bicutan. to me, it was perfect. (and this "me" i am talking about was just 7 years old then!) we had the nicest neighbor, and a very clear creek, we can catch some tadpoles and bring them home, as well as some fishes, which on some unfortunate cases, would give out a stench smell the next day (somebody forgot to put holes on the jar of the jar lid!)

well, back to Guimaras... i would love to come and visit some day. i wanna se my old school, my old classmates (literally!) and of course my grandparents... i was so sad when i heard that my grandmother had a mild stroke last week. it's been like years since i last saw her, and my grandfather, and i would really love to be with them again. they raised us up and i owe them big time.

anyway, it's already october... i will miss the "filipino" christmas. one time, i was on a department store and i saw their christmas decors, and i sang (out loud) merry christmas... and the lady beside me said "oh your already in the (christmas) spirit" and i grinned, (really embarrased) but replied, "oh yes, i sing the song, 'it's the most wonderful time of the year' almost everyday!" and we both laughed... and my heart cried...
